Funding & Next Steps

Region 15 is actively working to move the Pomperaug and Gainfield Elementary School construction project forward by securing state funding support and preparing for community decision-making. The district has completed extensive feasibility work and submitted required information to state representatives as part of the state reimbursement process, recognizing that securing favorable funding formulas is a key step in managing local costs.

State reimbursement incentives, which can significantly offset the cost of new school construction, are based on formulas established by the State of Connecticut and are tied to when local funding authorization is secured.

The Board of Education has scheduled a referendum vote on May 6, 2026, at which time voters will be asked to authorize the local funding needed to support the project and move toward construction. This community vote is an important milestone in ensuring that Region 15 can provide safe, modern learning environments for students in the years ahead.
